Is getting ‘Four’ turned into a movie?

We hope so! And we’re not the only ones, Jon Feltheimer, Lionsgate’s CEO, seemed interested in the chance of bringing Four’s story to the big screen, as he said when asked:

Not only do “Divergent” fans have a trailer to look forward to, Feltheimer also teased a potential fifth film based on “Divergent” author Veronica Roth’s newly released, bestselling book “Four: A Divergent Collection.” “We certainly hope so,”Feltheimer said of a potential fifth installment, which would delve into lead male character Tobias Eaton/Four’s future in the Divergent faction hierarchy. Lions Gate previously confirmed an adaption of Roth’s third book “Allegiant” will be split into two parts with March 2016 and March 2017 release dates.

Would you enjoy see Theo playing a younger Four? Tell us in the comments.

NEWS: Veronica Roth Shares Good/Bad News about the “Four” Stories!

20131207-091149.jpg

We received the first Four short story The Transfer earlier on this year. The second Four short story was due out this month. Well Veronica has shared some news about that on her Tumblr. But don’t worry because all of the stories will be together in a hardcover copy called Four: A Divergent Collection.

Read what V had to say below:

All right, so it’s good news/bad news time.

Everyone always wants the bad news first, so here goes.

Bad News: the three remaining stories from Four’s perspective that I’ve been working on, which were supposed to come out later this year/early next year, have been delayed until July 2014. They’ll be bundled together and sold as a hardcover under the title Four: A Divergent Collection, with some fun extra content, and at that time they will also be released as separate e-stories (so, if you’ve already bought the first one, “The Transfer,” you don’t have to pay again for it in a collection if you don’t want to).

If you are asking, incredulously, “why, Veronica? Why must you do this to us?!” My answer is: the stories turned out much meatier and more substantial than I was originally anticipating when I started them. There’s just so much going on—Tobias’s reunion with his mother, his growing disillusionment with the faction system, and some of his early moments with Tris, to name a few. So I just really, really need more time to get them right. I know it sucks, but I am sure that this extra time will result in better work and better stories for everyone to read.

Okay. Good News:
-If you already pre-ordered the second story, “The Initiate,” your pre-order will not be canceled. It will just take a little longer for you to get it.

-The stories are long. As in, they’re about seventy pages each, so if you add them together you get about 280 pages of Tobias’s story. Which is as long as some novels. So there’s more to read!

-The price for the e-stories will not change, even though they’re longer than anticipated.

-The stories will be better in July than they would have been if they had come out this winter, because I’m going to work my butt off to make them that way!
Which is what I’m off to do right now, actually.

<3,
V

2014 will be a very spectacular year for us. Divergent comes out, filming for Insurgent starts and we get the Four stories.

Publisher’s Weekly reveals detailed information about FOUR short stories including paperback, Divergent Movie tie-in books and more!

20130620-195203.jpg

Publisher’s Weekly just shared more brand new information about the FOUR stories.

HarperCollins will release the first one – centering on Four (a.k.a. Tobias) at age 16 – will come out on September 24, just before the October 22 release of the hardcover of Allegiant, the final installment of the Divergent trilogy.

Like the other three forthcoming e-short stories, this one – called The Transfer – will be 30 pages and priced at $1.99. The others (The Initiate, The Son, and The Traitor) will come out December 17, January 21, and February 11.

“The e-shorts will address Tobias’s backstory and some of the mysterious things going on in the world before Tris chose Dauntless,” Roth said. “Together, they form a kind of Tobias-centered Divergent prequel, though there is some overlap.”

Looking Back, Moving Forward

The 10,000-word format for the prequels, which Tegen suggested, appealed to Roth. “The e-shorts are a way for me to delve into another character’s voice and personality and history, which is fun and exciting for me as a writer,” she said. “And I also wanted a way to kind of ease my way out of the series. The Divergent universe has been my world for a long time, and writing it has changed my life in pretty drastic ways. Now that the third book is nearly finished, the e-shorts are helping me to say good-bye.”

And Four – a fan favorite – makes that farewell easier. “In my mind, he has a distinct history and a complex psychology, so there’s always a lot to draw from when he’s on the page, and it’s an opportunity for me to break from Tris’s sparse, straightforward voice and try to introduce just a little bit more poetic language,” Roth said. “I also know, from many tweets and blog comments and in-person comments, that Divergent readers are interested in hearing more of his voice, which made him an obvious candidate! My readers have given me so much enthusiasm and honesty and wisdom. The opportunity to write something that I knew they wanted to read was really appealing to me.”

If you don’t have an e-reader you will be able to purchase the FOUR stories in paperback in February.

Fans of print won’t have to miss out: next February, HarperCollins will release an $8.99 paperback bind-up of the four e-novellas and Free Four (Four’s 13-page retelling of the knife-throwing scene, published digitally last year), as well as a $17.99 hardcover and a $9.99 paperback movie tie-in edition of Divergent.
