Our favorite author, Veronica Roth, will be receiving the 21st Century Award from the Chicago Public Library Foundation and the Chicago Public Library.
The 21st Century Award goes to an early-career author with Chicago ties. Roth, 25, author of the best-selling “Divergent” trilogy, was raised in Barrington and is a graduate of Northwestern University’s creative writing program.
The three “Divergent” books — including the final one, “Allegiant,” which was released in October — have sold more than 11 million copies, according to Publisher’s Weekly. The film adaptation of “Divergent,” starring Shailene Woodley as Beatrice “Tris” Prior, is set to be released March 21.
The authors will receive their awards at the Oct. 22 Carl Sandburg Literary Awards Dinner.
Huge congrats to you Veronica! You totally deserve it!
